Orion Nebula

Quite possibly the most popular nebula in the northern hemisphere, the famous Orion Nebula, cataloged as Messier 42. This amazing nebula is located in the sheath of Orion and is so unbelievably bright that you can see it with the naked eye in the city! This nebula is actually quite large, measuring about 24 light years across and over 1,500 light years away. What’s truly special about this region is that it is actually a stellar nursery, a place where stars are born! Many astronomers and even some astrophotographers have witnessed the formation of planetary discs formed in this region, providing evidence of stars currently in the process of forming. I am truly excited to have finished this image and how much better it is than my first acquisition of this object. This photo was completed in February of 2024.
