Pleiades

The Pleiades star cluster, cataloged as Messier 45, also known as “The Seven Sisters” is one of the most popular deep space objects in the night sky. It has had many names from several different cultures and can be seen with the naked eye, even in the city! Unlike my galaxy photo work, this object is much closer to home, existing in our very own galaxy at only 444 light years away, making it one of the closest star clusters to earth! Aside from being a star cluster, it is also a reflection nebula, as you can see the many “whispy” clouds of gases throughout the entire image. This photo was completed in December 2023.
