Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF)

“The Green Comet” as it was coined by media, is a long period comet that was discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) on March 2, 2022. It made it’s close approach to the Sun during January 2023, and reached peak brightness/closest approach to earth at the time of this photo, Jan 31st. This comet has a near-parabolic orbit, where it only visits us once every 50,000 years, making those like myself, the first ever humans to ever photograph it and quite possibly the last, pending on the fate of the human race. While it is not by any means a great photo or my best, having had the chance to capture something of this importance so early on in my astrophotography career leaves me truly blessed and fulfilled. This photo was completed in January of 2023.
